For the first time...

My ambitious goal was to to blog 2-3 per week so I figured I'd give a bit of a mid-week update, should anyone care.

We're only three days into the week but it's already been a week of firsts. I thought I'd share a few with you.

For the first time....

  • I partook in a DC happy hour. (Thanks, Lauren Hughes!) I've learned HH (as the kids abbrev it) is big here. Which works pretty well for me because I love any day when I can visit with friends, have a glass of wine, and still be in pajamas by 9:30 p.m.
  • I saw a gentleman driving his car, listening to Latin music, and playing the maracas (He was also trying to turn into a pedestrian crosswalk. I saw the maracas and got the hell out of the way.)
  • I actually did something that I saw on Pinterest! I'm impressed by people who find things on Pinterest and then DO them. For me, Pinterest is a fantasy world, not a practical tool. Now, before you get excited and think that I whipped up something glorious in the kitchen or built my own television set out of recyclables or what not, I should come right out and say that what I did was follow instructions on how to keep my earphones from getting tangled. Didn't see that coming, did you? It's life-changing though, y'all. Life-changing. If you don't understand, then you've clearly never tried to pull earphones out of your pocket while running out the door to catch the train only to find that they are a big ol' tangly mess.
  • I gave someone directions in DC!! Well, sort of. I was so proud. The conversation went a bit like this:
Nice Lady: Excuse me, do you know where the Planned Parenthood office is?

Me: Um, oh, wait. No, yes. YES.  I think I pass that when I walk from the Metro. Oh, ok! Ok, um, go to this light and take a left. I think that's 16th...or...L...no, no, it's definitely 16th. And, I think you, um, should see it on that street. Yeah, I think it's on 16th. Unless it's one more block up on L. No, no, no, it's definitely on the first road. You should see it. I think. Glad I could help!

  • I did laundry in my new building.Apparently, laundry is boring no matter where you do it.
  • I broke my new laundry basket. (Next week, will be the first time I'm the girl who carries her laundry to the basement in trash bags.)
  • I rode the Metro's yellow line. Guess what, it's just like the Blue line and the Red line except it goes different places. And also, it's Yellow. But, I did it. Ok, Orange and Green, you're up.
  • I tried those creepy eye-ball looking things at Yogi Berry. You know what I'm talking about. Every frozen yogurt place has them. Jessica tried to peer pressure me a few weeks ago to try them but I refused. This week, I felt adventurous and I ate one for the first (and now I know, ONLY) time. I do know that they are called lychee and that many people love them. I do not count myself among those people. But, at least now, I can justify my decision.
Lychee. And, yes, I did eat all of the frozen yogurt first.

Stay tuned for a more legit post this weekend as I'm going to check out Eastern Market. I keep hearing how many people love Eastern Market and frankly, I'm tired of hearing, "You've never been? You have to go. I can't believe you've never been. You've really never been?" YES, I've never been...until now. Well, until Saturday.
